04/08/2015 - 2015 Health Careers Summer Camp

     A rural Health Careers Summer Camp is being planned for June 5, 2015

The purpose of this camp is to provide  rural high school students with a hands-on learning experience about different health professions careers and to show them the opportunities available in health professions.  Students will also receive information abouteducation and training, academic requirements and financial aid. The faculty for the camp is comprised of health professions faculty, health professionals currently in practice, and health professions college students.

South East IL Area Health Education Center in collaboration with Fairfield  Memorial Hospital and Frontier Community College are planning a rural health careers camp for June 5, 2015. This camp will be based at Frontier Community College with some activities located at Fairfield Memorial Hospital. Students will be required to find transportation to and from their local school. Transportation will be provided from the school to the camp.

The cost for the student to attend is covered Thanks to a grant from Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).

Eligible students should be from Wayne and Edwards counties and have a budding interest in the health professions. Priority is given to incoming freshmen and sophomores from these counties. Students are chosen for the camp based on their year in school, and their interest in health careers. All interested students are encouraged to apply!

Applications can be picked up in your school’s office or guidance department.  Applications will be available starting March 30, 2015.  You may also contact  Beth Wilson, SEI-AHEC at 618-847-8381 about picking up an application. Completed applications should be sent to:

 South East Illinois-AHEC-1021 Harding St. - Fairfield, IL 62837.  Applications must be turned in no later than April 24.
