Students K-12 - Career Camps

Rural Health Careers Camp

Rockford College will be the host site for the 2013 Rural Health Careers Camp.  The three-day camp, to be held June 26 – June 28, is intended for high school students residing in rural areas who have a budding interest in the health professions.  The camp is a partnership between NCRHP, Rockford College and the Area Health Education Center (AHEC) of Northwest Illinois.

The purpose of the Rural Health Careers Camp is to provide rural high school students with a hands-on learning experience about various health professions careers, and to show them the opportunities available in health professions. Students will also receive information about education and training, academic requirements, financial aid, and campus life. The faculty for the camp is comprised of health professions faculty, health professionals currently in practice, and health professions college students.

Current rural high school freshmen, sophomores, and juniors with a priority given to freshmen and sophomores from the 19 counties of the Northwest Illinois Area Health Education Center (AHEC) Region are eligible to apply to the camp. Counties included are: Boone, Bureau, Carroll, DeKalb, Henderson, Henry, JoDaviess, Knox, LaSalle, Lee, Mercer, Ogle, Putnam, Rock Island, Stark, Stephenson, Warren, Whiteside and Winnebago.

Augustana Summer Academy 2013

June 23 - June 28, 2013

High school students can experience a unique college atmosphere and summer adventure by taking a course in the Augustana Summer Academy.

The academy's courses range from one to five days and take an active, hands-on approach within a close-knit learning community based on the beautiful Augustana campus. You'll find fun outside of class, too, through field trips, evening activities and ventures off campus — maybe even on the Mississippi River.

Classes are taught by popular Augustana professors. Investigate your interests, whatever they may be, and have fun while enriching your education on Augustana's campus this summer.

Registration is open until midnight May 25, 2013.

Scholarships

All students who participate in at least one Augustana Summer Academy course and apply and are accepted into Augustana College (to earn a BA degree), will receive a $500 scholarship for each year enrolled at Augustana College (up to $2,000).
