Health Priorities: Obesity (physical activity/nutrition), unmanaged chronic conditions, and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Reduction of the number of obese adults and a community wide initiative to improve overall health are obesity priorities. The decrease in STIs and chronic conditions (heart disease and high blood pressure) are priorities as well.
Decatur Memorial Hospital conducted a Community Health Needs Assessment and identified access to primary care physicians, access to medial specialists, and access to mental health providers and services as health priorities for the county.
HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital conducted a Community Health Needs Assessment and identified access to health care, mental health, and substance abuse (drugs) as health priorities for the county.
